Eszterházy Károly College
The Eszterházy Károly College serving over 9,000 students with almost 300 instructors is dedicated to the effective application of modern information and communication technology devices and the arsenal of digital pedagogy in a state of the art electronic learning environment. Design, preparation and research efforts concerning the educational application of information and communication technology in the full spectrum of the Colleges’s training profile ranging from basic, intermediate, and upper  level post-secondary programs via B.A./M.A. schemes to the Doctoral School on Pedagogy are professionally coordinated by the Institute of Mediainformatics[1] functioning within the Faculty of Teacher Training and Knowledge Technology. Furthermore, said faculty joined by the methodological experts of other Faculties and the leading teachers of the College’s Demonstration School promote the acquisition of effective teaching methods. Moreover, the Department of Instruction and Communication Technology provides instruction and performs research in information and communication technology related to the M.A. level teacher training programs, pedagogical technology and e-learning systems as well.

Tanévnyitó_2008.jpgThe mission statement in­corporated into the Institutional Development Plan of the Eszterházy Károly College assigns high priority to the development and application of the achievements of information and communication technology.Consequently, integrated elec­tronic learning environments fully incorporated into the College’s training and instruction profile had been formed. All of our instructors and for the last four years all of our newly enrolled first year students as well are provided with a portable computer for use. Furthermore, our lecture halls have been converted for holding electronic presentations, and in larger lecture facilities we installed high definition web-cameras guaranteeing the availability of professors’ lectures on-line and later off-line. The Moodle electronic learning management system making almost 1000 educational programs and materials available promotes the effective operation of information and communication technologies. Incubationalor teacher support options include regularly held further training programs for in-service teachers and the dissemination of empirical research results promoting ICT. One such program is investigating  students’ learning habits with special attention to ICT devices.
 
 
 
The elaboration of the ICT content of the M.A. level teacher training programs serving a large portion of the total student body and the incorporation of said results into the curricula receive high priority. Consequently, students can take up courses with a minimum aggregate credit value of 6 in the following subjects: ICT components of the teaching profession, Electronic learning environments, Application of ICT in the given subject mattercontent.
 
Epapír_Gyak_2010.jpgThe state of the art instruction equipment of our Demonstration School provides an innovative environment for familiarizing students with the practical aspects of the teacher training process. Students are supplied with a digital instruction program comprised of electronic educational materials. As such programs are uploaded to their portable computers prospective teachers can practice in classrooms equipped with modern demonstration and instruction devices.

We are convincedthat our pedagogical efforts pertaining to the promotion of the educational application of information and communication technology devices described above significantly contribute to training students, who after graduation can fully meet employment requirements regarding the use of the achievements of modern technology.
